What is the real favour of pork?

16.06.2021

All of us have repeatedly heard or read in the media that meat is harmful. Several studies show that excessive consumption of red meat is associated with a greater risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Despite this, other studies have shown that there is no direct causal relationship between pork consumption and these diseases. If you eat good quality pork in moderation, your body will only benefit. And here is what — we will tell below.

Benefit 1. High protein value

The human body thrives on nutrients. Amino acids are one of them (this is the end product of broken-down proteins). And since pork is a rich source of protein, this type of meat is really necessary for the human body. It contains 9 essential amino acids that are critical for the growth of the human body.

It should be noted that not all proteins contain these beneficial substances. For example, green beans do not contain amino acids, although they are also a source of protein. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to replace meat with beans.

This is why people who work out in the gym often consume pork. It helps not only speed up recovery from injuries but also build muscle tissue. But more on that later.

Benefit 2. Additional to training

As you know, to achieve good physical shape, it is not enough to play sports often. You also need healthy, nutritious food. In particular, pork contains several nutrients that our bodies need, which we are working to improve. These nutrients include taurine, beta-alanine, and creatine.

Beta-alanine, a subtle form of amino acid, helps in the production of carnosine, which is crucial for muscle development. As a result, if you want to increase your physical potential, pork will help you with this.

And taurine and creatine accelerate metabolic processes, provide an energy boost and help cells regenerate faster. These elements are especially important for those involved in strength sports.

Benefits 3. Source of vitamins and useful elements

In addition to being rich in protein, pork is also a source of vitamins B6 and B12. They are critical in making red blood cells in the body, regulating the nervous system, improving brain function, and supporting cognitive performance. Vitamins also help to avoid feelings of anxiety.

By the way, vitamin B12 is most often found in the protein of animal origin.

Pork also contains a large amount of selenium and glycine, which also has a significant effect on human health. For example, selenium enzymes prevent blood clots and slow down the development of atherosclerotic plaques. And glycine reduces psychological stress and normalizes sleep. These two amino acids are often consumed as dietary supplements, however, following the correct diet and consuming pork in moderate doses, the body will receive the required amount of amino acids even during the meal.

The most beneficial parts of pork are tenderloin and loin. They have less fat and more nutrients. However, you should not completely abandon fat either, because it contains vitamins A, E, D, F, and fatty acids (in particular, those that we mentioned above).
